Teacher Grant Awards 2012-2013


The Ironia PTO is proud to announce the 2012-2013 Ironia PTO Grant Award Recipients! Thank you to all Applicants for taking the time to write and
submit a grant proposal. We appreciate your continued dedication to our children.

Mrs. Brodsky – 4th Grade: Smart Document Camera - $758.50

o Similar to an overhead projector but allows any object (2D or 3D) to be placed on the platform and viewed in a more colorful, interactive, real-time, and
earth friendly manner

o Document camera can be used across all areas of the curriculum

Mrs. Lockwood – K thru 5th grade: Common Core Standards Support Through Non-Fiction - $899.85

o Goal of the Common Core Standards is to introduce and teach reading to students focusing on informational texts otherwise known as non-fiction.

Ms. Feeney & Mrs. Carmona- Music Room: 2 Music Playback Systems - $199.98

o Allows students to experience the Ironia music program to its fullest by having a system in place to play audio recordings in an efficient manner with
the best possible quality.

Ms. Feeney – Music: Music Education for the 21st Century Lerner - $846.72

o Smart Music provides for the students to receive feedback on their music performances thereby increasing information retention and engagement. Additional
items purchased were Creative Inspire T10 speaker system, Smart Music USB Microphone, and Epson Powerlite 93+ LCD Projector

Ms. Tyroler – 4th Grade Art: Puppet Palooza - $621.88

o Three dimensional art is a main focus of the Randolph arts curriculum. All 4th grade students will do this project. They will create a plaster
of paris puppet with elaborate costumes.

Ms. Brembs – 5th Grade: WeDo STEM Activities - $1,190.02

o Program is designed to enrich all students in the latest robotic technology and curriculum. It prepares then for life after school in careers in science,
technology, engineering and mathematics industries (STEM).

Ms. Brembs & Mrs. Cirella – 5th Grade: You Can Solve It! - $199.98

o Program is designed to enrich students in mathematics related lessons while using Rubik’s Cube.

Mrs. Friedland & Mrs. Murphy/ - 2nd Grade: College Summer Institute on Reading at Columbia University - $1400

Mrs. Shirkey – BSI: Raz Kids Reading A-Z- $99.95

o Subscription to an online site that allows educators access to a comprehensive collection of high-quality and developmentally appropriate reading
selections to help strengthen comprehension and all areas of reading.

o Books and materials can be downloaded, printed, folded and ready for use during BSI sessions. Multiple copies can be made for any size group.

Mrs. Brodsky, Mrs. Andrews, Mrs. Baker, Ms. Bourke, Mrs. Greenhill, and Mrs. Brodeen - 4th Grade: National Geographic Explorer - $667.14

o Nonfiction magazine and Interactive website integrate with whiteboard technology to enhance the educational experiences in the classroom for reading
workshop, science, social studies and technology.

Mrs. Lockwood – Library Media Specialist: IPad and Apple TV - $698

Ms. Feeney – Music: IPad Technology in the Music Room - $698
